We all know the role of spiritual leader of the Bishop of Rome, at the head of a Church of nearly 1 billion 400 million faithful. But the Pope is also the head of state of the Vatican City State. One of the great prerogatives of this status is the diplomatic capacity it grants the popes. They influence and act in the sphere of international relations.
How, why, in what directions, with what means and, more importantly, what results?
The proposed conference will unveil this by nature discreet, if not secret, object: Vatican diplomacy. In particular, it will examine the weight and influence of this diplomacy under the pontificate of Pope Francis.
