It has the particularity of being heavily wooded. This trail offers pleasant passages through woodland: Taillis Soldat, Bois de Binand, Bois de Fougemagne.... where you can enjoy the scent of lily of the valley in spring.
You'll be amazed by the presence of CROSSES erected at crossroads, along paths and roads, sometimes right in the middle of the countryside, curiosities you'll find all over the region.
Domsure, the commune of 11 crosses (?): mission cross at the cemetery, Richardière cross, Croix hamlet cross, Mailly cross, Manet cross, Champ Maillet cross, Carrouge cross, Villard cross, mission cross, Peyrouse cross. A special cross can be seen on the floor of the church's "paradise": the CROIX DE SAINT MAURICE. This is where coffins are placed on burial days, and where the ceremony begins.
An ancient belief (now forgotten) placed the devil at the crossroads. A place, it seems, where he took pleasure. To keep evil away from the villages, crosses, once made of wood, now made of stone, were erected at crossroads.
As you stroll through Crocaly, take a short detour to the banks of the Solnan river to admire the MOULIN DE LESCHAUX. Built on the river, on the site of an old mill, this turbine-powered mill produced bread flour, cattle flour and the famous gaudes flour (roasted corn flour, the staple food of yesteryear). Operated from 1902 to 1969, it is now a private home.
