Kiendé

Cultural, Dance, Show in Ceyzériat
  • Mélodie and Gaétan, who have been friends for over ten years, have fun (dis)balancing to rhythmic, live music.
Kiendé means "be welcome", so come along!

  • A sparkling universe where a duo of dancers playfully (dis)balance with mischief.

Kiendé, "be welcome" in Mooré, a dialect of Burkina Faso, is a greeting, an encouragement to a person who is walking to continue on their way. Mélodie Joinville and Gaétan Jamard, friends and stage partners for over ten years, invite us on a beautiful dance journey, as they recount their years of friendship, support and artistic complicity.

Mélodie is petite and blonde, Gaétan is tall and dark-haired. They complement each other and have fun going beyond the limits of their bodies by playing with each other, combining the strength and power of a gesture with a taste for risk, burlesque with a touch of clowning, and moving tenderness. Their joyful dance is all about action, the spontaneity of the body and the dynamics of raw, authentic movement. Their flowing energy is enhanced by the rhythmic, colorful music, performed live by the inventive David Millet and his many instruments, some of them very DIY.
