Biodiversity in the forest: an excursion into a complex and threatened universe.

The presentation will successively address :
- the particularities of forest biodiversity worldwide, with details of local issues (mountain forests in particular) ;
- the main threats (fragmentation, intensification of exploitation, climate change, etc.);
- protection policies, their successes and limitations, with a focus on American and national (and even very local) examples;
- a look at European policies: protection through the Natura 2000 network, fire prevention, health risks, prohibition of trade in timber from forest clearings, etc.
