Lecture by Cyril DEVÈS, PhD in art history.
The horse in the arts or the quest for a plastic motif.
Cyril DEVÈS
From the earliest equestrian representations on cave walls to the present day, the horse is one of the most represented animals in the arts. If the horse is considered man's greatest conquest, it is also his greatest source of artistic inspiration. From simple witnesses to human activities or exploits to perfect models for artists, they embody beauty, vivacity, energy and impetuosity in all their appearances.
