In Bresse, we love cream and we use it with everything: Bresse chicken, pasta, sauce, gratins and tarts! This tart is much richer that the sweet tart from Pérouges, and is particularly popular with foodies. One of the most famous female chefs in France, Mère Brazier, even talks about this product in her memoirs, in her childhood memories, when she would enjoy this tart freshly baked on her parent’s farm.

The Boulangerie Pâtisserie Bouvard at 25 Avenue Maginot in Bourg-en-Bresse. Not-to-be-missed! As Mr. Bouvard says “At the Bouvard bakery, it’s not Hollywood, it’s traditional. Simple, homemade creations.” That’s good news, because we’re not keen on all the glitz and glamour.
