Venues of Bourg-en-Bresse

come and see a live show

Bourg-en-Bresse is a cultural hotspot

There are countless live show venues, open to all the arts and of varying sizes, from a capacity of 30/50 people to 5,000.

Creativity above all else

Many of the venues welcome resident companies and shows. The latest one is called ‘Petit théâtre de poche’ and the entire set was handmade from recycled materials, created to develop puppetry arts and a place that appeals to people of all ages, even from the very young. While we’re on the subject of creation, the Théâtre Arphonème and their company bearing the same name produce a combination of theatre, music and singing.

Going out is second nature in Bourg-en-Bresse !

La Tannerie is a live music venue decorated in a style that features concrete and primary colours. Hip-hop, pop, rock, rap, electro, and world music concerts are played here.

Make no mistake, if you consider yourself to be more ‘classic’, then keep an eye on the programme for the Salle de Musiques Actuelles de Bourg (SMAC), the very first live music venue in the department.

The brand-new ‘Maison de la Culture et de la Citoyenneté’ has a great show venue, that can be adapted to various uses. In just a few months the ‘Maison du Cirque’ will be opening its doors in the Reyssouze district.  This is an achievement for this town where circus art is already highly popular thanks to a must-see festival in the spring called Br’Ain de Cirque, organised behind the Royal Monastery of Brou.

Major events

For those looking for big names and major events, you’ll need to go to the south side of the town. The Ainterexpo and Ekinox venues are located side-by-side and have been designed to welcome all the major events coming to Bourg-en-Bresse!
